It's been a long, cold lonely winter for the Wooden Railway engines as my basement underwent major renovations. I'm pleased to announce now that the Wooden Railway Series will be returning very soon!<br />
<br />
However there will be some changes. First of all, I've decided to just end Season 5 where it is right now with <b><span style="color: #f1c232;">Toby Takes the Road</span></b> being the final episode of the Season. This isn't ideal, but I'd really like to get moving with Season 6 so I don't have to cut that off once I go off to college this fall. Expect a full episode list for Season 6 coming later this week or next week!<br />
<br />
Now what about what was left of Season 5? Well I plan to have those episodes be the first six episodes of Season 6 so that I don't have to cancel them all together. Like I said, not ideal, but it's the best solution I could come up with since I'm on a time crunch.<br />
<br />
So has your patience paid off? Well we'll see when the Wooden Railway Series returns with <b><span style="color: red;">Patience is a Virtue</span></b> this March!<br />

Dry rails and good running!SkarloeyRailway01http://www.blogger.com/profile/04951747526286792297noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4539158021391961028.post-16983642974481120392013-11-02T16:02:00.000-05:002013-11-02T16:02:30.021-05:00Where is the Wooden Railway Series?Well, it's on hiatus. An indefinite one at that. My basement (where I film) is being completely redone, and while this is cool and exciting, it means I won't be able to film for around a month or more. My parents say their goal is to be finished by Christmas, but we can't know for sure when we'll be done. I'm a little frustrated because I was only <i>six</i> episodes away from finishing up Season 5! But alas, time waits for no one! To wrap up, the series will be gone for a month or so. I that time you can expect more Engine Inspector reviews and HQ episodes. The Engine Inspector will become my priority while my series is on hiatus.<br />
<br />
The Wooden Railway Series will return with <b><span style="color: red;">Patience is a Virtue</span> </b>sometime in December! Thanks for your ahem... patience. ;)SkarloeyRailway01http://www.blogger.com/profile/04951747526286792297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4539158021391961028.post-80258799533474344092013-09-04T20:28:00.001-05:002013-09-04T20:28:36.722-05:00A Big Few Weeks for SkarloeyRailway01!Yeah, I've neglected the poor blog again, but I've been busy! Just look at all the stuff I've cranked out in the last few weeks! Oh wait, that's what this blog is for... well let's get going! First off is <b><span style="color: #b45f06;">Fire Escape</span></b>!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BR42ylACAAAalSi.jpg:large" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BR42ylACAAAalSi.jpg:large" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A fairly straightforward and simple episode to shoot. I got some kind of neat new angles when trying to depict what was going on inside Gordon's cab without showing just the driver and fireman. This worked pretty well, but I wish I had access to a more detailed cab interior than I did. This isn't my favorite episode I've done, but I think it's probably the best I could do with this story. On another note I always love the way Gordon's Hill looks! It's a pain to make that set, but I always feel it's worth it! Check it out now!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaUIbh-g7U0">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaUIbh-g7U0</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next up was <b><span style="color: #f1c232;">Gordon Proves His Point</span></b>! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BSOrkbVIYAA2P08.jpg:large" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BSOrkbVIYAA2P08.jpg:large" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now this is one I'm really proud of! I've already gotten tons for positive feedback on it! Once again, I'm the first to attempt a Railway Series story like this one in Wooden Railway form. Tracking down two Brio Intercity 125s was kind of a struggle, but I can tell you it was well worth the effort! I gave the Intercities new coats of paint which really improved the look of the engines and made them into much more aesthetically pleasing models. The faces were simply paper with my own little faces drawn on, as usual with models like these. One thing that was a problem was how long the trains were in this episode, mainly James, Pip and Emma's triple header. It was so hard to keep all those darn wheels on the track and you can probably see in one or two shots that they're not quite all on track. Not having front couplings also made this a huge pain in the tender... All and all though, I think this is one of my favorite episodes of the season! I hope you enjoy it too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ka1lQFZFeYQ">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ka1lQFZFeYQ</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Onward and upward to my third ever TV Series remake, <b><span style="color: #38761d;">Oliver's Find</span></b>! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BTLU0omIUAAaaLH.jpg:large" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BTLU0omIUAAaaLH.jpg:large" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This episode is special for several reasons. Firstly it marks Oliver's first speaking role since Season 3! The poor little engine really didn't get a whole lot of screen (or page?) time in the Railway Series, so I had to pull an episode from the fifth season of the TV Series. This is also the first TV Series remake of mine since Season 3! I think I might do a few more in Season 6, but only time will tell! When I was making the episode list for Season 5, I wanted to do at least one TV Series episode. The ones I considered were: Gordon and the Gremlins, Double Teething Troubles, Bye George! and of course, Oliver's Find. I ultimately settled on this episode because I really wanted to give Oliver and Toad speaking roles again in a (mostly) realistic episode. I did, however, change up a handful of lines so that the story made a little more sense in the setting of my series (for example: "Oliver and Toad liked working on the Little Western" instead of "the yard") as well as combining the US and UK narrations of the episode (which are noticeably different) to make a more complete version of the episode. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oh, I also did another Engine Inspector review! :D That's also up on my channel! </div>

I've kind of neglected this blog... But that's all about to change! I won't cover the episodes I've done since my last post (as there are too many!) but I'll start off with <b><span style="color: #444444;">Smokescreen</span></b>!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BRaV92fCYAAPKoR.jpg:large" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BRaV92fCYAAPKoR.jpg:large" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm quite pleased with how this episode turned out! I got some new and interesting angels in as well as being able to give BoCo a speaking role for the first time since Season 3! I missed him...We also got to see Vicarstown Station for the first time EVER in my series! Caroline and Bulgy got little cameos too! Easy to film, easy to edit, and a really enjoyable story! I'm also pleased with how the score turned out as well. And yes, just like in <b><span style="color: #38761d;">Out of Puff</span></b> the ash was real ash. ;) So if you haven't already, check it out! </div>

Here's a blog post about the last two episodes of my series, <b><span style="color: blue;">Bulldog </span></b>and <b><span style="color: #38761d;">You Can't Win</span></b>. Let's get going!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BKkzitbCEAAnZOf.jpg:large" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BKkzitbCEAAnZOf.jpg:large" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Heeeeeey Bulldog! Haha, if you want to get that obscure Beatles reference look <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWdLPGKQRXc" target="_blank">here</a>. I really enjoyed making this episode! I think it turned out really well and it wasn't all that hard. Believe it or not, the crash only took two tries, but I did end up cropping it to get my hand out of the shots... grrrr... Anyhoo, all and all, it turned out great! If you haven't, check it out! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now we move on to <b><span style="color: #274e13;">You Can't Win!</span></b>. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This ended up getting pushed back to Monday because of some weekend chaos. Thank goodness for Memorial Day! Again, I'm very proud of this one as well! I experimented with puffing sound effects in this episode and I think it turned out well! I'm not sure I'm going to keep it, but what do you lot think? Not too much was really hard here, but it did take a long time. Lots of hills...lots and lots of hills... Well check it out! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Stay tuned next week for <b><span style="color: magenta;">Sleeping Beauty</span></b>! That should be out this weekend. Farewell!</div>

We're kicking off with the stories of <span style="color: magenta; font-weight: bold;">Duke the Lost Engine</span>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BKAPzorCUAAroSu.jpg:large" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BKAPzorCUAAroSu.jpg:large" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ah, <b><span style="color: #783f04;">Granpuff</span></b>! This story has always been a favorite of mine, and I think I've done it justice. It wasn't super hard to create as it was all filmed on the set of the Mid Sodor engine sheds. That set is fast becoming one of my personal favorites! I also love how the derelict MSR turned out! I think it looks really unique compared to a lot of my other sets (the functioning and run-down versions). Stuart and Falcon's nameplates were just paper and pen. Simple, but sweet! Well I hope you enjoy the episode as much as I do! Here's to Season 5! </div>

You can expect Season 5 to start sometime in May. </span></span></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1287_zps3150ec85.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1287_zps3150ec85.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think this is one of my strongest episodes yet! Everything just worked! Filming was not too hard, editing went smoothly, and I got it out on time (this blog post is another story...)! You'll notice I made no attempt to edit the story to make it make sense to have engines 8-11 there and this was intentional. I couldn't figure out a way that made sense. It was as simple as that. I thought about doing the TV Series intro, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. So I just left it an took creative liberties with the engines in attendance. I'm glad I made a Elizabeth II mini-figure that actually looked like her! A note on the flags: THEY WERE SO TEDIOUS TO ATTACH! But once on they stuck and didn't fall off. I think they look really splendid! Also God Save the Queen at the end was a stroke of genius on Mike and Junior's part and I felt obligated to replicate it! So check it out, and watch this space for more updates on Season 5! </div>

Oh and here's a music video while we're here! </div>

Gosh, I let myself fall behind on the old blog again... Sorry about that folks! Let's get caught up now shall we? Let's start in the only logical place, with <b><span style="color: #990000;">Stick in the Mud</span></b>!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1235_zps88c1095b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1235_zps88c1095b.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Gosh, I love<span style="color: #0b5394;"> <b>Very Old Engines</b></span>! This story in particular was a lot of fun! For everyone wondering, the mud was brown sugar. People always ask me that... and the answer never changes... Not too much really difficult here other than the rain effects. Just like in the TV Series, I used steam to make rain. I also imitated a Railway Series cover for the first time I can think of. All and all, I think it turned out great! Check it out! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/Z0iCMA-KrnI?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now on to <b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Duck and Dukes</span></b>! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1263_zps111cb27f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1263_zps111cb27f.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This episode marked the first appearance of the Lakeside extension and marked the return of the television train. I'm telling you now, this isn't the last you've seen of the Duke of Sodor. ;) More on that in a later post. I also imitated Railway Series illustrations in this adaption in the form of the scenes with the Duke, Skarloey, Rheneas and Peter Sam. The only issue that arose with this episode is I ran out of time <i>several times</i> during editing, pushing the release back from Sunday to Wednesday. But it made a nice mid-week treat. I think this episode was a great way to say farewell to the Skarloey Railway in Season 4, but fear not! We'll be seeing lots of them in Season 5! Make sure you check out this awesome story now!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/54W-zeZY7C4?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Next I took a break from all the oddball remakes to do a Christopher Awdry classic in the form of <b><span style="color: #38761d;">Thomas and Trevor</span></b>. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1269_zpsac1a84bb.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1269_zpsac1a84bb.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First off, I used the text from the original annual to adapt for this remake rather than the TV Series episode. You know what set I hate? Knapford Harbor! Every time I need to use it, I find it really hard to work with and I always end up getting limited shots and angles. I might end up redesigning the harbor for Season 5 as I plan to tackle <b><span style="color: #6aa84f;">Toby, Trucks and Trouble</span></b> next season. Not much else to say on this one, but check it out! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/X3HIi7FRPmw?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Stay tuned next week for the final episode of Season 4, <b><span style="color: #741b47;">Paint Pots and Queens</span></b>!</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

Time to talk about part two of <b><span style="color: #0b5394;">Very Old Engines</span></b>!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1226_zps41ac4413.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1226_zps41ac4413.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Someone commented on this video that they had never seen anyone attempt this story before. I suppose this is true of all of <b><span style="color: #0b5394;">Very Old Engines</span></b>. They're not easy stories to recreate as they require customized models. Fortunately for me, custom models have become my specialty. ;) <b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Bucking Bronco</span></b> saw more of the cabless Skarloey and Rheneas models as well as my three Skarloey Railway coaches! They need a bit of touching up still, but they look good enough for now. Nothing really special in this episode besides the customs. Actually, strike that! This episode saw the return of Skarloey (the station of course). I haven't used that location since <b><span style="color: #38761d;">Peter Sam and the Refreshment Lady</span></b> and I was happy to bring it back! I also tried to replicate a few sets from older Skarloey Railway episodes. See if you can tell which ones. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Check out the episode now, and keep an eye out for <b style="color: #0c343d;">Stick in the Mud </b>next weekend! Till then! </div>
SkarloeyRailway01http://www.blogger.com/profile/04951747526286792297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4539158021391961028.post-26507677082764247812013-01-20T20:19:00.003-06:002013-01-20T20:19:40.955-06:00Triple Take Down! So here we go, I'm going to talk about the last <i>three</i> episodes in my series! Let's start with <b><span style="color: #38761d;">Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree</span> </b>shall we?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1170_zps8bdbeda8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1170_zps8bdbeda8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I don't think I could be happier with this if it was the TV Series episode! Okay, so I missed the Christmas season (mostly), I did manage to get it out on the 13th Day of Christmas... yeah, I know there's no such thing. Not a whole lot to say really, other than I really enjoyed filming this and it was really a lot of fun! As usual, the snow was flour and boy was there a lot of it! So if you haven't seen it already, check it out below! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/XZLNbfxQe4w?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Back to the regularly scheduled episodes now! Next to be released was <b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Mind That Bike</span></b>! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1182_zps0b5f6fbf.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1182_zps0b5f6fbf.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Once again, really positive feelings connected with this episode! It was short, sweet, and really easy to film! Seriously, I think I shot the whole thing inside an hour-and-a-half! It helps that the story is super short too! Also almost everything takes place on the Ffarquhar set! I love it when stuff is that easy! My lovely ERTL Post Van got some good screen time as did my (relativity) new mail car! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Check it out now!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/DIjQacnbJPs?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now onto the nineteenth episode of Season 4, <b><span style="color: #3d85c6;">Crosspatch</span></b>! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1201_zps6edc9483.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1201_zps6edc9483.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Again, really really really happy with how this turned out! Just totally delighted! I love it when I feel like I really hit the nail on the head with one of my remakes! These three are like the Era of Good Feelings for my series! I really liked the boat scene. It's probably one of my favorite scenes I've ever done! I took a little inspiration from <b><span style="color: #0b5394;">Blue Mountain Mystery</span></b> if you couldn't tell. ;) I think it's really a unique scene in what I think will be a really unique set of remakes! And if you like custom models, this series is for you! My cabless Skarloey and Rheneas make their debut in this episode, and boy do they look splendid! And by the way, there are three custom Skarloey Railway coaches on the way too. Keep an eye out for them! Did anyone notice that Dolgoch makes a cameo? See if you can spot him!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZWTenXYBryw?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Stay tuned for <b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Bucking Bronco</span></b> coming soon! <b> </b></div>

I've had family in town, plus lots of time with friends over the holidays, so I apologize for not getting<b><span style="color: red;"> Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree</span></b> out in time! Rest assured, it's still coming I just am not sure when. I truly wanted it up by now, but I have once again fallen a victim of circumstance. For now check out the latest Behind the Scenes and Outtakes videos (both number 20) on my channel!<br />
<br />
Thanks again, and I wish you all peace, joy, and love in 2013!!SkarloeyRailway01http://www.blogger.com/profile/04951747526286792297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4539158021391961028.post-41875065506949774702012-12-11T18:15:00.001-06:002012-12-11T18:20:23.758-06:00Henry the Red(?) EngineWell this week we saw the release of my favorite story in the <b><span style="color: red;">Henry and the Express</span> </b>saga, <b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Henry Sees Red</span></b>. I've got quite a bit to say about this one, so let's dive in!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/image-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/image-2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm really proud of this episode! It was easy filming, plus making the red Henry was an easy, but fun project for me! By the way, you'll be seeing several more custom models come <b><span style="color: #3d85c6;">Very Old Engines</span></b>! That's something to look forward too! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In case anyone was wondering (and I know people are from the comments on the video) this is a totally different Henry model from the one I normally use! It would be really stupid to paint my only Henry model red. You can easily tell it's another Henry because of the funnel too. My green Henry has a wooden one, and Red Henry has a plastic one. Red Henry also has raised coal on his tender, whereas Green Henry has painted coal. What I did was I bought a second Henry from the internet (for like $3 too!) and first (ironically) gave him an undercoat of primer. The gray primer ended up showing a little on the wheels if you look closely. After this I taped off his cab roof and windows I painted him over with a redish/orange paint that ended up fitting the dialogue description of looking like tomato sauce! I'm very happy with how he turned out, and proud to have such a unique custom model!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Interestingly enough, I'm the only person on YouTube (bar a few Trainz remakes) to attempt to recreate this story!! That's really something special I think! Check out Henry the Red engine in action now!!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Keep your eyes peeled for <b><span style="color: #0b5394;">Mind that Bike</span></b> soon!</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/image-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/image-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Talk about a short story! I was worried when I typed the script that this would end up running around three minutes in length! When I'd finished I thought about further adapting (I'd already switched out the forklifts for lorries) the story to feature more dialogue in the sheds, at the harbor, etc, but I decided against it because whatever I wrote didn't seem to fit. Well regardless, I'm really pleased with the outcome! I got to use the Horrid Lorries as well as Butch! You can't go wrong with Butch! There is one new trick I tried which really <i>really </i><b><i><u>really </u></i></b>didn't work! You'll see that in an outtakes video before too long. In case you were wondering, the 'fish scales' was Kosher Salt. I think everything worked in this episode, but don't just take my word for it! Check it out! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/Fr0q2BW800I?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Boy are you in for a fun treat next week! I've got <b><span style="color: red;">Henry Sees Red</span></b> ready and waiting to be shot! I think you'll all love it! I know I'm super excited to film it! Till then! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Also I should make a quick announcement, I'm switching the order of the episodes up a bit at the last minute. I know, I know, I should have done this long ago, but this makes way more sense in my head. <b><span style="color: #38761d;">Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree</span></b> will now follow <b><span style="color: #0b5394;">Mind That Bike!</span> </b>and the Season 4 finale will be <b><span style="color: #741b47;">Paint Pots and Queens</span></b>. I hope this doesn't offend anyone greatly, but I think it makes more sense to have TATMCT closer to Christmas than Easter. Call me crazy. </div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/image.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Today, we continue the <b><span style="color: red;">Henry and the Express</span> </b>saga with <b><span style="color: #990000;">Overhaul</span></b>. This was an easy one to film, not requiring many tricky sets. Although Gordon's Hill is always a pain in the rear to make... One little Easter Egg I threw in was the Peel Godred Branch and one of its engines, just like Clive Spong did! See if you can spot them! The only real struggle I had filming this was that stupid brick! It took me several tries to get the brick to hit James in just the right place. I don't even know what causes a brick to fly threw the air...anyhoo... Some of the lighting is really off too, and I couldn't figure out why. The world may never know! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/fWxYgzQf7fM?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Stay tuned for some changes to the episode lineup as well as <b><span style="color: #cccccc;">Sliding Scales</span> </b>next week! Also HQ episodes are returning soon! Until next time! </div>

First off was <b><span style="color: #f1c232;">Bowled Out</span></b>!<br />
<br />
Sorry, no picture! :( I can't find them!<br />
<br />
Anyway this episode isn't my finest. I don't know what it is I don't like, but I really feel like I could have done better. It's not that it's bad... just not what I'd like to be putting out at this stage of my series. Ah well! Here's <b><span style="color: #f1c232;">Bowled Out</span></b>!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Next up was <b><span style="color: #38761d;">Out of Puff</span></b>!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1075.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1075.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What can I say, it's <b><span style="color: red;">Henry and the Express</span></b>! I love this book and all the stories in it! I'm also very pleased with the final product! I used real ashes for ash and real newspaper for the paper mache! Fancy that! Everything seemed to go right with this one and I really enjoyed making it! Check it out for yourself! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

After much chaos, I finally got around to making <b style="color: #cc0000;">Train Stops Play</b>!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_0954.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_0954.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A fairly easy episode to film, <b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Train Stops Play</span> </b>has to be my favorite story in <b><span style="color: #0b5394;">Stepney the Bluebell Engine</span></b>! I loved the episode as a kid, and I think I did both the original story and the TV Series episode justice in my recreation. No big effects, just fun story telling! Also (to toot my own horn [no pun intended]), I think my Caroline voice was pretty darn good! Make sure you check it out! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/OcEAzA-CARM?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now on to the big one, I know this one's really gonna rake in the views and subscribers. I am of course talking about my adaptation of <b><span style="color: #38761d;">Super Rescue</span></b>!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1013.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wanted to do this episode back when I did the rest of <b><span style="color: #073763;">Enterprising Engines</span></b> back in Season 2, but I didn't have either version of 199. That's when I decided to wait until I recreated <b><span style="color: #3d85c6;">Stepney the Bluebell Engine</span></b> to make this story. Mostly because I needed a visiting engine. :P Anyhoo, this wasn't too hard to film either, although I did end up cutting a lot of footage when the episode ran over nine minutes long! Wait until you see the behind the scenes video for this one! The countryside Main Line set was the longest I've ever built! Make sure to watch it! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/BJK81IjqN9I?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Keep an eye out for <b><span style="color: #b45f06;">Bowled Out</span></b> next weekend! </div>
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/Xoa-5qltoKY?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
Anyone remember my<b><span style="color: yellow;"> Interview with the Engines </span></b>when I was just starting out? If not check it out! I might not hold up as well as my other stuff, but it's worth a watch! Just FYI, I look nothing like that now! I've had my braces off, and my hair hasn't been that long since!<br />
<br />
Anyhoo, I made this when my cousin (with whom I made the original) came to town and asked to do another video! He also assisted me in creating <b><span style="color: #444444;">Mavis</span></b>. So a big thanks to him! I think we both had some fun!<br />
<br />
Do you think I should do more commentaries? Please leave a comment here on or on the video if you think so!SkarloeyRailway01http://www.blogger.com/profile/04951747526286792297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4539158021391961028.post-29145510074441503682012-09-14T22:24:00.000-05:002012-09-14T22:24:01.268-05:00The Bluebells are coming! Sorry this is so late, but I've been incredibly busy! Anyhoo here's my thoughts on <b><span style="color: #6fa8dc;">Bluebells of England</span></b> and <b><span style="color: #f1c232;">Stepney's Special</span></b>! Let's start at the beginning shall we?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1073.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_1073.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
If you couldn't tell, I took a lot of inspiration for this episode from <b><span style="color: orange;">Rusty to the Rescue</span></b>. I was fortunate enough to find a decent instrumental of Stepeny's escape theme. I'm also really proud of my Other Railway scenes! I love the way the fog and diesels turned out! Did anyone notice that the station on the Bluebell Railway was Sheffield Park? That's my little Easter Egg! If you haven't already, check it out!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/kBl9MU-Y0Oo?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
Now two weeks later comes the next chapter, <b><span style="color: #f1c232;">Stepney's Special</span></b>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_0907.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/SkarloeyRailway/IMG_0907.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Once again, absolutely loving how this episode came! Once again, the scrapyard scenes turned out really well! Once again lots of inspiration coming from <b><span style="color: orange;">Rusty to the Rescue</span></b>! The one thing I did have to change in this episode was I had to edit the original text to avoid using names of other Bluebells that I couldn't make appear. Also this episode has cameos galore! Oliver, Gordon, James, Percy, and Toby (not to mention Flying Scotsman, Wilbert, and Fergus as Bluebell engines, and 199, The Diesel, Spatter, and Derek as Other Railway Diesels, and Bertram as a scraped engine). So all and all, I'm super please with it! Watch it below!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/cw6Udm31nCw?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
Now I don't think I'll be able to get <span style="color: #cc0000; font-weight: bold;">Train Stops Play </span>out this weekend. I know, I know, I've been really behind lately, but I've had school, Cross Country meets, and now it's my church's annual carnival and I'm working all weekend. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to film Sunday. Thanks so much for all of your patience! I really appreciated no one demanding new episodes!SkarloeyRailway01http://www.blogger.com/profile/04951747526286792297noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4539158021391961028.post-24546233312073364452012-08-13T13:41:00.001-05:002012-08-13T13:41:35.682-05:00Another late post I know this is really late, but here's the wrap up to <b style="color: red;">Tramway Engines</b>!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwPJnXiwi0xzRx4yLAucBWgj4yw2Z3dDks_KeYrO_prX0Awd7lOXSH4JAimxqDjl7g2qSHAq6LDJ6d-ZxYuDapNRxzMLNHuLqA0WJwQ2sanWfsfcDb37NZYpoP7xGqcxoBtF_mqLt21V42/s1600/IMG_0899.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwPJnXiwi0xzRx4yLAucBWgj4yw2Z3dDks_KeYrO_prX0Awd7lOXSH4JAimxqDjl7g2qSHAq6LDJ6d-ZxYuDapNRxzMLNHuLqA0WJwQ2sanWfsfcDb37NZYpoP7xGqcxoBtF_mqLt21V42/s320/IMG_0899.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We'll appropritoly start with <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #444444;">Mavis</span></b>. This was fairly easy to film (for the most part) and feature the return of two locations that once again, hadn't been seen since Season 2 during <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #3d85c6; font-weight: bold;">Branchline Engines</span><span class="Apple-style-span">. These of course being Anaphona Quarry and the Quarry Tramroad. The place where Mavis gets stuck proved very tricky to film on because of the slope. More than once I had to completely rebuild the set because the supports below the snow fell out. You'll also notice a lot of footage in this episode is sneakily reversed. A big thanks to my cousin who helped me with this episode! Watch the episode here: </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I was surprised at how easy this was to film! The bridge scenes worked out in one or two takes almost every time! This was really really nice! But I did get a little peeved when the Runaway Theme wasn't long enough to span the whole runaway. Ah well! I did get a lot of deleted scenes out of this episode too! Watch out for them in music videos in the future! But get watching!</div>

I'm having issues with uploading pictures!<br />
<br />
I kicked <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">Tramway Engines</span></b> off with <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc;">Ghost Train</span></b> almost two weeks ago!<br />
<br />

<br />
You probably noticed that I used a <i>lot</i> of steam effects in this episode. More so than I usually do! This was completely intentional to give it a similar look to that seen back in Season 2 of the television series. While I wanted the look to be similar to that of the TV series, I wanted the overall atmosphere to be darker separating me from the TV Series version. To achieve this I used music mostly from Season 5's <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6aa84f;">Haunted Henry</span></b> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f1c232; font-weight: bold;">Duncan Gets Spooked</span><span class="Apple-style-span">. I think that the music combined with the excessive steam effects gave the episode a darker feel despite it only being a prank. Imagine if I did a really dark story... Anyway the lyme was of course flour stuck on by soaking Percy in water (Poor Percy's had a rough couple of weeks!). We also got to see a location we hadn't seen since Season 2! This being Ffarquhar Yards. This last being seen in <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #38761d;">Percy's Predicament</span></b>. </span><b> </b>All and all, I think this is one of my best episodes to date! Watch it below!<br />

<br />
<br />
What a stick mess this was! Not in a bad way mind! The treacle was really maple syrup and the hay dead grass. The syrup turned put to be much clearer than I anticipated but it was sticky enough! The grass was stuck to Percy with nothing but the syrup! This also marks the return of Knapford Harbor, a location that has had very few appearances, the most recent being in <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0000;">Percy and Harold</span></b>, but has been mentioned several times since then. This was easier to film than <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cccccc;">Ghost Train</span></b> and less extravagent, but I'm incredibly pleased with the result none the less! Watch it now!<br />

Now I'm going to be away for a week and a half starting tomorrow so you can expect <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #444444;">Mavis</span></b> around the 28th of this month. As the Thin Controller said, "Patience is a virtue!" <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: xx-small;">I'm doing that story next Season! </span><br />

<br />
This episode was just as tricky as <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #351c75;">Mountain Engine</span></b> before it! The hills are as hard to film as ever and Godred's crash was hard to get right. But I won't bore you with the same stuff from the last blog!<br />

Next week we go back to the Ffarquhar Branch (trust me, you'll be seeing a lot of them this season!) to kick off <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">Tramway Engines</span></b>! This was by no means an easy episode to film! The Culdee Fell sets were difficult to assemble and very delicate to work on. Also because they were raised the camera could not meet the track the way I would have liked. If your wondering why there are trees inconsistently, it's because trees would only have enough air to grow near the bottom of Culdee Fell. I hope you enjoy the episode and keep a good lookout for <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #351c75;">Bad Lookout </span></b>next week!<br />
